
À propos de Nele Wynants
Nele Wynants is a postdoctoral researcher at the ULB (Arts du Spectacle Vivant) and University of Antwerp (Film and Theatre Studies). She is a member of the Research Centre for Visual Poetics, and of the Intermediality in Theatre and Performance research group of the FIRT/IFTR, and the recently established Performing Astronomy Research Society (PARS). Wynants earned her licentiate/master in the History of Arts (Performance and Media Arts) by the University of Ghent, and holds degrees from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp (DKO scenography), and from l’Université Paris X, Nanterre. She has worked as a dramaturge and designer and has participated in the work and research of CREW, a performance group and multi-disciplinary team of artists and researchers. She has been a fellow of the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO), and wrote her PhD on visual narratives in immersive performance and installation art. Currently she is a postdoctoral fellow of the Fund for Scientific Research of Wallonia-Brussels (F.R.S.-FNRS). She is working on The Optics of Performance: An Archaeological Approach to Intermediality in Theatre and Performance, which aims to elaborate and historicize concepts and practices of intermedial theatre by focusing optical media as tools to explore knowledge of optics and visuality. She has published on artists working at the intersection of theatre, film and media arts (such as Kurt D' Haeseleer, Joanna Bailie & Christoph Ragg, and Eric Joris & CREW). Her book The Inside of the Image. Immersion and Theatricality in the Arts is contracted to appear with MER. Paper Kunsthalle (Gent, 2015)
